Record #163473:

Influence of surface debris on summer ablation in Unteraar- and Lauteraargletscher, Switzerland / Shin Sugiyama.

Title: Influence of surface debris on summer ablation in Unteraar- and Lauteraargletscher, Switzerland / Shin Sugiyama.
Author(s): Sugiyama, Shin.
Date: 2003.
In: Bulletin of Glaciological Research. (2003.), Vol. 20 (2003)
Abstract: Results from study on two glaciers in Switzerland using positive degree-day method show debris-covered surface contributes substantially to decrease in ablation during mid summer. Predicts that if glacier were debris free, total summer ablation would increase by 32%.
