Record #163454:

Joik i Snefjord - tradisjon og fornorsking / Ola Graff.

Title: Joik i Snefjord - tradisjon og fornorsking / Ola Graff.
Translated title: Joik in Snefjord - tradition and norwegianisation.
Author(s): Graff, Ola.
Date: 2003.
Language: Norwegian.
In: Tromsø Museums Skrifter. (2003.), XXX (2003)
Abstract: Despite norwegianisation, joik is still found here, one of few signs that it is (Sea) Saami territory. Because of sparsity of records, author was very surprised in 1975 to get tape from Snefjord with two joiks among other songs. He collected all he could at Bratrein's request, and found 18 melodies, from 1885-1920, "sung" rather than "joiked". End came with setting up of boarding school in fjord and closing down of Pomor trade at Revolution.
