Abstract: | Study of effect of cryoconite on surface albedo of glaciers and snow algal communities undertaken on maritime glaciers Worthington and Matanuska Glaciers in south Alaska, USA, found surface albedo higher and amount of cryoconite smaller than in inland Gulkana Glacier. Less organic matter content and algal biomass (mostly three green algae) may be caused by running meltwater on surface washing cryoconite and algae out of glacier. |
