Abstract: | Nungavik is one of largest archaeological sites of Canadian Arctic, occupied for last 2000 years by Dorset and Thule Inuit. Author was missionary at heart of Pond Inlet, and made 19 digs there and at nearby Saatut before tragic death in fire in 1994. His manuscript and photographs illustrate variety of Dorset Palaeoeskimo techniques, supplemented by report on recent discoveries and resulting reevaluation of sites. |
