Record #162937:

Problems in the determination of sensible heat flux over snow / Martin Arck, dieter Scherer.

Title: Problems in the determination of sensible heat flux over snow / Martin Arck, dieter Scherer.
Author(s): Arck, Martin.
Scherer, dieter.
Date: 2002.
In: Geografiska Annaler. Series A. Physical Geography. (2002.), Vol. 84A(3-4) (2002)
Abstract: Seeking to improve calculation of sensible heat flux in general circulation models (GCMs), points to necessity to achieve good parameterization of energy exchange, particularly of sensible heat flux between atmosphere and snow. Experiments in Kärkevagge, Abisko Mountains, Swedish Lapland in 1995 and 1998 used profile and bulk method that gave reliable results as long as all data were measured within surface layer and radiation errors for air-temperature data were small. Measurements conducted outside surface layer were unusable for profile method, and eddy-covariance method was also unreliable outside surface layer. No method gave reasonable results for all meteorological conditions.
