Record #162835:

Permafrost and ground temperature regimes: a challenging soil classification problem in low arctic and alpine environments / Colin E. Thorn, Robert G. Darmody.

Title: Permafrost and ground temperature regimes: a challenging soil classification problem in low arctic and alpine environments / Colin E. Thorn, Robert G. Darmody.
Author(s): Thorn, Colin E.
Darmody, Robert G.
Date: 2002.
In: Geografisk Tidsskrift. (2002.), Vol. 102 (2002)
Abstract: Draws attention to field problems raised by Soil Taxonomy classification requirements in alpine environments where permafrost is discontinuous or sporadic. Illustrates spatial ground variability in Abisko Mountains, north-west Sweden and Jotunheimen Mountains of central Norway where ridge crests are underlain by permafrost, valley bottoms are not, and valley flanks may contain discontinuous or sporadic permafrost.
