Snow water equivalent variability and forecast in Lithuania / Egidijus Rimkus, Gintautas Stankunavichius.

Title: Snow water equivalent variability and forecast in Lithuania / Egidijus Rimkus, Gintautas Stankunavichius.
Author(s): Rimkus, Egidijus.
Stankunavichius, Gintautas.
Date: 2002.
In: Boreal Environment Research. (2002.), Vol. 7(4) (2002)
Abstract: Studies relationship between dominant Northern Hemisphere circulation mode, Arctic Oscillation (AO) and spatial distribution of snow water equivalent (SWE) in Lithuania. Findings indicate inverse relation between extreme AO phase and SWE, though largest spatial differences are seen during positive AO phase. Climatic forecast from five climate models suggests that with increasing winter air temperature and rain fraction in winter precipitation, SWE will decrease significantly, causing change to river feeding regime.
