Title: | The snow cover characteristics of northern Eurasia and their relationship to climatic parameters / Lev Kitaev, Alexander Kislov, Alexander Krenke, Vijacheslav Razuvaev, Rafael Martuganov, Igor Konstantinov. |
Author(s): | Kitaev, Lev. Kislov, Alexander. Krenke, Alexander. Razuvaev, Vijacheslav. Martuganov, Rafael. Konstantinov, Igor. |
Date: | 2002. |
In: | Boreal Environment Research. (2002.), Vol. 7(4) (2002) |
Abstract: | Uses snow-depth data for former Soviet Union (east European plain and West Siberian plain) for 1936-95 and snow water equivalent data for 1966-90, averaged for territories of different scales. Positive trends correlate with positive trends in winter precipitation and air temperature. In last 60 years influence of low air temperatures on formation of snow cover has diminished, while that of high precipitation has increased. Investigates relation of snow storage to North Atlantic Oscillation (NAO), Southern Oscillation (SOI) and Indian monsoon. |
