Abstract: Applies method of Allemand and Thomas to two impact features, Callanish and Tyre, on Europa, smallest of four Galilean satellites of Jupiter. Europa is surrounded by a water layer, frozen near surface, possibly liquid beneath. Uses model of brittle lithosphere overlying ductile asthenosphere to estimate thickness of icy crust under impact basins and computes thermal gradients and impact strain rates. Compares results with those of previous studies to investigate importance of grain size, composition and deformation rates on rheological structure of Europa's icy crust.
