Record #162709:

Modelling Alpine permafrost distribution based on energy-balance data: a first step / Catherine Stocker-Mittaz, Martin Hoelzle, Wilfried Haeberli.

Title: Modelling Alpine permafrost distribution based on energy-balance data: a first step / Catherine Stocker-Mittaz, Martin Hoelzle, Wilfried Haeberli.
Author(s): Stocker-Mittaz, Catherine.
Hoelzle, Martin.
Haeberli, Wilfried.
Date: 2002.
In: Permafrost and Periglacial Processes. (2002.), Vol. 13(4) (2002)
Abstract: Introduces computer model PERMEBAL (Permafrost and Energy Balance) that simulates persistence of snow cover and daily ground surface temperatures of snow-free gridpoints, particularly in high mountain conditions. When applied to Corvatsch-Furtschellas area, Engadin, Switzerland, results showed area could be divided into three classes, similar to permafrost probable, permafrost possible and permafrost improbable of previous classifications.
