Ground temperature and permafrost mapping using an equivalent latitude/elevation model / Kenji Yoshikawa, Larry D. Hinzman, Prasad Gogineni.

Title: Ground temperature and permafrost mapping using an equivalent latitude/elevation model / Kenji Yoshikawa, Larry D. Hinzman, Prasad Gogineni.
Author(s): Yoshikawa, Kenji.
Hinzman, Larry D.
Gogineni, Prasad.
Date: 2002.
In: Journal of Glaciology and Geocryology. (2002.), Vol. 24(5) (2002)
Abstract: Presents method for mapping permafrost in discontinuous permafrost regions based on equivalent latitude/elevation model employed in Caribou - Poker Creeks Research Watershed (CPCRW), near Fairbanks, Alaska. Ground penetrating radar detected permafrost well. Results indicate 37.5% of this permafrost is unstable or thawing, and 2.1% of it has thawed in 20th century in response to climatic change. Site specific conditions vary and must be taken into account.
