Abstract: Landsat images from mid- to late 1970s are used to establish baseline for determining areal extent of glaciers (between about 81° north and south latitudes) between 1972 and 1982, enabling comparisons with both previous material and new maps, satellite images and aerial photographs to trace areal fluctuations of glaciers in response to changes in Earth's climate.
