Abstract: | Selection of stories told by 22 hereditary story tellers, with their photographs. Stories are traditional or tell of events in their own lives. Leading theme is conversion from Inuit belief system to Christianity. Littauer was involved in making film compressing 70 hours into 70 minutes of stories. First aim was to collect from least modernised parts - Ammassalik, Thule, Upernavik and Ilulissat. Appendix contains names of persons and explanations of some Greenlandic words and expressions. |
