Covers climate of glaciated mountain regions (mostly within former USSR) during 1950s-1980s. Headings include: Radiation balance; Turbulent heat and water vapour exchange, structure of the heat balance; Meso- and microclimate of glacier; Employment of meteorological information for analysis and computation of glaciological parameters. Compares work of other authors on this theme, and concludes that way forward needs new methods of turbulent heat exchange computation that allow for strong temperature inversions and sloping glacier surfaces.
