| Abstract: | Summarises discussions on nature of interannual and decadal change in physical environment of Southern Ocean; potential underlying mechanisms responsible for variability and response of Southern Ocean variations to external forcing through teleconnections; and biological and physical implications of large-scale variability in Southern Ocean. Factors considered included biological oceanography, physical oceanography, sea-ice dynamics, glaciology, climate research, and meteorology. |
