Title: Is the heart of Fennoscandian rodent cycle still beating? A 14-year study of small animals and Tengmalm's owls in northern Norway / Karl-Birger Strann, Nigel G. Yoccoz, Rolf A. Ims.

Date: 2002.
In: Ecography. (2002.), Vol. 25 (2002)
Abstract: Study from 1985-1998 showed 3-year cycles for two vole species in inner Troms and in same latitude as Kilpisjärvi, 80 km away, where 4-5-yr cycles were norm until end of 1980s. Response of owls to variation in small rodents was not delayed, unlike in central Finland. Common shrews had more stable dynamics. Other aspects of habitat than latitude should be examined.
