Abstract: Essay on economic value of environmental assets in Icelandic wilderness north of Vatnajökull where hydropower plant is projected. Reports contingent valuation study conducted in 2000, arriving at Ikr 385 000 000, if people willing to pay for creation of National Park, representing both economic costs of hydroscheme and economic bebefits accruing. Reindeer are there at present.
