Abstract: Method has been devised that uses plants as climate indicators in Arctic. Index uses species diversity to distinguish increasing concentrations of plants requiring higher temperatures within local range. Function of these variables is analysed on two scales: regional and local. On peninsula spatial distribution of index values on regional scale is correlated with latitude and longitude, and shows continentality effect. At local scale other factors such as topography are tested.
