Abstract: Presents formulations governing surface energy and mass exchange. Evaluates surface hoar and melt-freeze crusts as these are influenced by atmospheric forcing and are important layers for avalanche warning application of SNOWPACK (model). Assesses model performance using statistical model evaluation algorithm. Profile agrees with observations by 80% on average.
