Abstract: Parallel texts. Green set up studio in Haparanda in 1895, so was there when closing of borders funnelled thousands of all sorts through this little frontier town on Torne River. Railway terminus at Karungi became virtual Klondike. Royalists, Kropotkin and Lenin all passed through. Swedish Red Cross passed 65 000 wounded Russian, German, Hungarian and Turkish soldiers through, and Green photographed many. Green stayed on during postwar slumber.
