| Abstract: | Compares CROCUS, detailed, multi-layer snow model developed for operational avalanche forecasting system of METEO France, and ESCIMO, simpler one-layer energy and mass-balance snow model for hydrological use over 3 seasons in French Alps. First season showed agreement, second considerable divergence, third improved performance of ESCIMO by recalibration of snow albedo function parameters. |
