Modelling and interpretation of turbulent fluxes in katabatic flows: applications to glaciers and the Greenland ice sheet / Bruce Denby.

Title: Modelling and interpretation of turbulent fluxes in katabatic flows: applications to glaciers and the Greenland ice sheet / Bruce Denby.
Author(s): Denby, Bruce.
Date: 2001.
Publisher: Utrecht: University of Utrecht
Abstract: Through modelling, aims to understand further processes in transferring heat energy from atmosphere to glacier surfaces through atmospheric boundary layer sensitivity. Works toward better estimates of turbulent fluxes from katabatic flows. Results from 3-D boundary layer model of Greenland ice sheet show significance of albedo feedback in increasing turbulent heat fluxes and therefore surface energy flux. Questions validity of 2 m temperature in climate sensitivity experiments.
