Abstract: Discusses growth of informally managed common-pool hunting grounds, lack of interest in family/clan holdings, and weakening boundaries of assigned Soviet-era hunting territories surrounding native community in Siberia. Examines which conditions favour transformation of assigned territories into commonly held territories and why formal land claims are not widespread among this population (Dolgany and Nganasany)
