A nutritional analysis of the food rations on Martin Frobisher's second expedition, 1577 / Conrad E. Heidenreich, Nancy L. Heidenreich.

Title: A nutritional analysis of the food rations on Martin Frobisher's second expedition, 1577 / Conrad E. Heidenreich, Nancy L. Heidenreich.
Author(s): Heidenreich, Conrad E.
Heidenreich, Nancy L.
Date: 2002.
In: Polar Record. (2002.), Vol. 38(204) (2002)
Abstract: Detailed lists of food for Martin Frobisher's second expedition give quantity, cost and how rations should be shared out. Four "meat days" a week gave 5000 calories, three "fast days" 4000 calories, allowing monotonous but adequate diet, except for absence of vitamin C and deficiency of vitamin A. Dietary problems would probably only occur if men were away more than six months.
