Record #159275:

Røyeotolitten (øresteinen) som ferdskriver hos Svalbardrøye / Martin-A. Svenning.

Title: Røyeotolitten (øresteinen) som ferdskriver hos Svalbardrøye / Martin-A. Svenning.
Translated title: Char otoliths (ear stones) as movement records in Svalbard char.
Author(s): Svenning, Martin-A.
Date: 2001.
Language: Norwegian.
In: Ottar. (2001.), Vol. 3 (2001)
Abstract: Char is only established freshwater fish on Svalbard, but some enter sea in summer. Two populations on archipelago were studied, using relative concentrations of calcium and strontium in otoliths to count number of times fish went to sea. Hardangervidda's recent increased precipitation has mainly been as winter snow. If warmer global conditions increase precipitation in Svalbard, effect on char will depend on whether it falls mainly as rain or as snow.
