| Abstract: | (See 20 for correction). Question of new law dominated debate during latter half of 1960s. Early reaction to suggestion of replacing "Saami settlement" with "reindeer settlement" was most interesting. Other knotty topics were fishing rights and Saami girls - whether non-Saami marrying one should have same rights as Saami man "marrying out". Non-herding Saami were also problematic. Article describes stages in coming to Commission's proposals and Saami involved in these. |
