Abstract: North Norway has coastline of more than 22 500 km. Flora has huge variations in habitat, from southerly beaches on Helgeland to arctic shore meadows in Finnmark. Examples are given of types of terrain and their plant variants. Unfortunately, these areas are vulnerable to many human activities, and some have become virtual deserts.
