Record #159107:

Holocene glacier variability: three case studies using an intermediate-complexity climate model / S.L. Weber, J. Oerlemans.

Title: Holocene glacier variability: three case studies using an intermediate-complexity climate model / S.L. Weber, J. Oerlemans.
Author(s): Weber, S. L.
Oerlemans, J.
Date: 2001.
Abstract: Uses glacier model with mass-balance and ice-flow components coupled to climate model ECBilt forced by insolation change from variations in Earth's orbital parameters to produce glacier length records for Holocene period. Describes simulations from three glaciers. Nigardsbreen (maritime glacier, Norway) shows rapid expansion during mid-period, Rhonegletscher (continental glacier, Swiss Alps) produces precipitation response that is unrealistic, Abramov glacier (Kirghizia) results indicate that northward extension of monsoon coincides with glacier advance. Internal climatic variability gives rise to length variations that differ in time in these three glaciers.
