Forest structure and biodiversity in northern boreal forests: effects of regeneration cutting on flying beetles and wood-decomposing fungi / Anna-Liisa Sippola.

Title: Forest structure and biodiversity in northern boreal forests: effects of regeneration cutting on flying beetles and wood-decomposing fungi / Anna-Liisa Sippola.
Author(s): Sippola, Anna-Liisa.
Date: 2001.
In: Arktisen keskuksen tiedotteita = Arctic Centre Reports. (2001.), Vol. 35 (2001)
Abstract: Thesis is based on 5 articles: Coarse woody debris (CWD) in natural and managed coniferous forests near timberline in Finnish Lapland; faunistics of Coleoptera in subarctic pine forests in Finnish Lapland; beetle diversity in timberline forests: comparing old-growth and regeneration areas in Finnish Lapland; wood-decomposing fungi and seed-tree cutting: 40-year perspective; effects of selective logging on coarse woody debris and diversity of fungi in wood in eastern Finland. Thesis analyses data, then has sections on coarse woody debris, forest structure and composition of beetle species, and wood- decomposing fungi. Concludes with implications for forest diversity management.
