| Abstract: | Examines aspects of Kven identity building in 1980s and 1990s. Kven Association (1987) has been successful on some fronts, but also created internal conflict. Strategy is seen as based on Saami model, and related to current debate in Fennoscandia on indigenous peoples' rights to land and water resources. Author aims to fill documentation gap in Marjut Anttonen's thesis on politicisation of identities of Finnish origin. |
