Record #158833:
Effects of density-dependence and climate on the dynamics of a Svalbard reindeer population / E.J. Solberg, and 6 others.
Title: | Effects of density-dependence and climate on the dynamics of a Svalbard reindeer population / E.J. Solberg, and 6 others. |
Author(s): | Solberg, E. J. |
Date: | 2001. |
In: | Ecography. (2001.), Vol. 24 (2001) |
Abstract: | Authors examined 21 years of annual censuses, for data on population size, recruitment and mortality. Apparently, fluctuations were due both to direct density-dependent food limitations and variations in winter climate from high precipitation and icing of feeding range. Results suggest unstable interaction between population and food supply in predator-free environment. |
Notes: | Ecography. Vol. 24 :441-451 (2001). |
Keywords: | 551.582 -- Climatology of particular places. 599.735.3 -- Cervidae: Rangifer tarandus platyrhynchus. H6 -- Zoology: mammals. (*3) -- Arctic regions. (*32) -- Svalbard. |
