Abstract: 7 papers on: 1. Russian North at crossroads of two epochs, seen through prism of world regionalism, in context of historical experience and from viewpoint of general theory of modernisation. 2. Land claim agreements in northern Canada - research barriers and opportunities. Land claims set up barriers, but when settled, opportunities arise. 3. Northern regional cooperation and globalisation - several items. 4. Opportunities for and barriers to research in context of regionalism and governance in Canada. Difficulites in context have hampered research. 5. Tourism in Finnish Lapland and northern Scandinavia (hotelier's view). It is only trade in Lapland that can grow, except possibly mining. Attracting young to work in it is important. 6. Experiences of development in Greenland - introducing young democracy.
