Abstract: | Describes construction of trial bio-pile to extract hydrocarbons from soil contaminated by diesel fuel. Wind-driven extractor took vapour from soil that had added nitrogen-rich fertilizer. Untouched control pile remained alongside. Finds process is remediating soil, but natural biological processes are taking place anyway. |
