Record #158445:

Physical and chemical properties of the glacial ocean / Jean-Claude Duplessy.

Title: Physical and chemical properties of the glacial ocean / Jean-Claude Duplessy.
Author(s): Duplessy, Jean-Claude.
Date: 2001.
Publisher: Cambridge: Cambridge University Press
In: Geosphere-biosphere interactions and climate. (2001.),
Abstract: Describes mechanisms responsible for variations in thermohaline circulation and CO₂ cycle resulting in rapid climatic changes. Finds from palaeoclimatic record that these mechanisms are extremely sensitive, for instance to freshwater discharge. Global warming could result in more precipitation over North Atlantic, leading to salinity changes with massive iceberg discharge that would in turn affect climate of Europe.
