Abstract: | Several important stocks need regulation, demersal even more than pelagic. Spawning stock of North-east Atlantic cod is still well outside biological limits. That of Norwegian spring herring is declining as expected, while North Sea herring is rebuilding. North-east mackerel is good, but blue whiting is under far too much pressure. Arctic cod, haddock and capelin stocks are also described, with saith, ling, tusk, blue ling, shrimp and redfish. Only mackerel is described as healthy. |
