Record #158323:
GIS-simulation of the spatial distribution of snow cover and observed ground temperatures in the Daisetsu Mountains, Japan / Mamoru Ishikawa, Takanobu Sawagaki.
Title: | GIS-simulation of the spatial distribution of snow cover and observed ground temperatures in the Daisetsu Mountains, Japan / Mamoru Ishikawa, Takanobu Sawagaki. |
Author(s): | Ishikawa, Mamoru. Sawagaki, Takanobu. |
Date: | 2001. |
In: | Norsk Geografisk Tidsskrift. (2001.), Vol. 55(4) (2001) |
Abstract: | Uses Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and Digital Elevation Model (DEM) to simulate distribution of snow cover, taking into consideration slope aspect and inclination. Predicts convex areas to windward remain snow free, endorsed by photography and observation. Simulated snow-free areas showed low ground temperatures and high DC resistivities, indicating permafrost. |
Notes: | Norsk Geografisk Tidsskrift. Vol. 55(4) :212-218 (2001). |
