Record #158174:

Reconstruction of Holocene variations of the upper limit of tree or shrub birch growth in northern Iceland based on evidence from Vesturárdalur- Skídhadalur, Tröllaskagi / Maria Wastl, Johann Stötter, Chris Caseldine.

Title: Reconstruction of Holocene variations of the upper limit of tree or shrub birch growth in northern Iceland based on evidence from Vesturárdalur- Skídhadalur, Tröllaskagi / Maria Wastl, Johann Stötter, Chris Caseldine.
Author(s): Wastl, Maria.
Stötter, Johann.
Caseldine, Chris.
Date: 2001.
In: Arctic, Antarctic, and Alpine Research. (2001.), Vol. 33(2) (2001)
Abstract: Plant macrofossil and pollen analyses from core covering time from 9200 BP to present represent first continuous high-resolution reconstruction of variations of Betula pubescens at ecological upper limit in northern Iceland. Inferred depressions of shrub line can be correlated with glacier and slope activity.
