Record #158168:

Ablation on the ice cap of King George Island (Antarctica) - an approach from field measurements, modelling and remote sensing / Matthias Braun.

Title: Ablation on the ice cap of King George Island (Antarctica) - an approach from field measurements, modelling and remote sensing / Matthias Braun.
Author(s): Braun, Matthias.
Date: 2001.
Publisher: Freiburg, Germany :
Abstract: Investigates ablation during summer seasons on King George Island ice cap, South Shetland Islands, Antarctica, with particular reference to modelling of surface energy exchange between atmosphere and snow surface. Energy balance components were computed from hourly data obtained during 1995-96, 1997-98 and 1999-2000 austral summers. Includes surface energy balance calculations; spatially distributed snowmelt modelling; snowmelt dynamics as revealed from SAR remote sensing; interannual variation of snowmelt patterns and firn line elevations; and discussion of snow and glacier melt on the King George Island ice cap.
Notes:

Unpublished thesis submitted for degree of Doctor of Philosophy, Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg i. Br.
