Abstract: Identifies cooperative spin-freezing transition leading to spin-ice ground state in Dy₂ Ti₂O₇, associated with narrow range of relaxation times, representing new form of spin-freezing. Dynamics are analogous to those associated with freezing of protons in ice and provide means for further study of glass-like behaviour.
