Record #157844:

Sea ice thinning in the Nansen Basin and Greenland Sea / Peter Wadhams.

Title: Sea ice thinning in the Nansen Basin and Greenland Sea / Peter Wadhams.
Author(s): Wadhams, Peter.
Date: 2001.
Publisher: Geophysical Institute, UAF
In: Second Wadati Conference on Global Change and the Polar Climate March 7-9, 2001, Epochal Tsukuba, International Congress Center, Tsukuba Science City, Japan. (2001.),
Abstract: Extended abstract showing mean thickness of ice over latitude range 81-90°N was reduced by 43% between 1976 and 1996, with significant decline in ridging. Raises paradoxes concerned with ocean heat flux, and apparent thinning during recent decades occurring prior to 1990, though biggest changes in Arctic environmental conditions occurred after 1990.
