Ice thicknesses and surface and bedrock elevations from the Lambert Glacier basin traverses 1990-95 / Mike Craven, Martin Higham, Andrew Brocklesby.
Title: | Ice thicknesses and surface and bedrock elevations from the Lambert Glacier basin traverses 1990-95 / Mike Craven, Martin Higham, Andrew Brocklesby. |
Author(s): | Craven, Mike. Higham, Martin. Brocklesby, Andrew. |
Date: | 2001. |
In: | Antarctic CRC. Research Report. (2001.), Vol. 27 (2001) |
Abstract: | Details ice-sheet thicknesses, from digital radio echo sounding (RES) augmented by gravity measurements, with surface and bedrock elevations measured along traverse routes within Lambert Glacier basin. Identifies major sub-glacial features. Ice thickness along main traverse is 2030 m with average bedrock elevation of 410 m asl, though within 350 km wide Lambert Graben average is 2630 m, with bedrock elevation 300 m below sea level. Some bedrock depressions give evidence for pressure melting. Relative reflection coefficients show spatial variability. Appendix 1 gives plots of ice radar sections along Lambert Glacier Basin traverse routes, Appendices 2-4 data for ice thickness, surface and bedrock elevation at different points, Appendix 5 gravity data. |
