Abstract: Describes study of frost heave and thaw consolidation of five ploughing boulders at Finse, Norway. They may heave 3-7 cm, mostly in early winter. Points to radiation as important energy supply. Obtains equation relating boulder heave to square root of freezing index and average height of boulder.
