| Abstract: | Zonal circulation indices with monthly and seasonal resolutions were calculated based on gridded monthly mean sea-level pressure reconstructed back to 1780 by Jones et al, overall for European area and normalised for North Atlantic Oscillation and Central Europe. For most of early time negative anomalies are preferred for NAO index in winter and positive in summer. Transitions occur in 1850s and 1870s respectively. Running 21-year windows showed some instationarities. |
