Abstract: | Author maintains that polar bears, through predation, are responsible for transfer of large amounts of organic matter (carcasses of sea mammals) from marine ecosystems to terrestrial coastal ones. By opening carcasses, they also make flesh and viscera available for other land mammals and birds. |
