| Abstract: | Investigates growth and decay of ice cover of Lake Baikal using AVHRR data 1994-98. Types of snow-ice cover distribution and changes during winter are given, and interannual variability discussed. Light irradiance through ice shows profound effect on phytoplankton. In special issue Hydrodynamical and ecosystem processes in ice-covered seas of the Southern and Northern Hemispheres. |
