Modelling Siberian river runoff - implications for contaminant transport in the Arctic Ocean / I.H. Harms, M.J. Karcher, D. Dethleff.
Title: | Modelling Siberian river runoff - implications for contaminant transport in the Arctic Ocean / I.H. Harms, M.J. Karcher, D. Dethleff. |
Author(s): | Harms, I. H. Karcher, M. J. Dethleff, D. |
Date: | 2000. |
Abstract: | Uses three-dimensional coupled ice-ocean models in simulation of dispersion of water from rivers Ob, Yenisei and Lena, studying dispersion and transport of contaminants, as incorporated into drifting sea ice. Explains differing pathways and transit times of river waters. Particles appear in freezing sea ice by estuaries of Ob and Yenisei, drifting into Barents Sea within a year. In special issue Hydrodynamical and ecosystem processes in ice-covered seas of the Southern and Northern Hemispheres. |
Notes: | Offprint: Journal of Marine Systems. Vol. 27(1-3) :95-115. |
