Record #156922:
Seasonal evolution of sea ice and oceanic heat flux in the Weddell Sea / B. Petit, Alain Norro.
Title: | Seasonal evolution of sea ice and oceanic heat flux in the Weddell Sea / B. Petit, Alain Norro. |
Author(s): | Petit, B. Norro, Alain. |
Date: | 2000. |
Abstract: | Outlines significance of gradients of temperature, salinity and density associated with Antarctic circumpolar current, with Weddell Sea as a source of dense water and demonstrator of deep vertical mixing. Describes sea-ice formation model connected to deep ocean through mixed-layer model for Weddell Sea and Drake Passage. Takes into account ice thermodynamics, thickness, oceanic heat and salt fluxes and ice concentration. Assesses model as satisfactory, though points to limitations. In special issue Hydrodynamical and ecosystem process in ice-covered seas of the Southern and Northern hemispheres. |
Notes: | Offprint: Journal of Marine Systems. Vol. 27(1-3) :37-52. |
