Abstract: | Material published in conjunction with exhibition held May-October 2000. Consists of instructional guide for teachers of elementary and middle schools, illustrated brochure, illustrated map, and collection of eight coloured prints. Recounts history of Russian exploration of Alaska and North Pacific (Bering, Eschscholtz, von Chamisso, Lisiansky, Krusenstern, Golovnin, Kotzebue, and Likte) and presents material collected in Russia and Alaska. Describes scientific work accomplished by naturalists and cartographers. Prints are reproductions of lithographs and water-colours from period 1770-1822. |
