Recounts history of Russian exploration of Alaska and North Pacific (Bering, Eschscholtz, von Chamisso, Lisiansky, Krusenstern, Golovnin, Kotzebue, and Likte) and presents material collected in Russia and Alaska. Describes scientific work accomplished by naturalists and cartographers. Prints are reproductions of lithographs and water-colours from period 1770-1822.
