Title: Risk assessment of marine evacuation systems for Arctic conditions / F.G. Bercha, M.C. Cherovsek, A.C. Churcher.
Author(s): Bercha, F. G.
Cherovsek, M. C.
Churcher, A. C.
Date: 2000.
Publisher: St Petersburg: Krylov Shipbuilding Research Institute
Language: Russian transliteration entered into original records using BGN/PCGN 1947 romanisation of Russian; Cyrillic text in MARC 880 field(s) reverse transliterated from this by automated process; BGN/PCGN 1947 text then upgraded to Library of Congress romanisation.
In: ICETECH'2000. Sixth International Conference on Ships and Marine Structures in Cold Regions, 12-14 September 2000, St Petersburg, Russia. Proceedings = ICETECHʹ2000. Shestai︠a︡ Mezhdunarodnai︠a︡ Konferent︠s︡ii︠a︡ po Sudam i Morskim Konstrukt︠s︡ii︠a︡m v Kholodnykh Regionakh, 12-14 senti︠a︡bri︠a︡ 2000 g. Sankt-Peterburg, Rossii︠a︡. Trudy. (2000.),
Abstract: Escape, evacuation and rescue (EER) procedures in Arctic and marine context are analysed and compared with those for temperate conditions. Escape on board is similar; evacuation procedures are modified by ice conditions. Gives possible systems capable of dealing with all these aspects including use of IR TEMPSC (ice reinforced totally enclosed motorised personnel safety craft) and some possible ice-surface propulsion methods. Assesses implication and reliability of methods and makes recommendations for further developments and for assessment modelling.
