Abstract: Presents programme, ICE '98, to display data from US National Ice Center (NIC), published in 1996 as CD-ROM and covering 23 years of weekly data for ice-covered seas of world, in more user-friendly form. Programme produces ice data on coloured maps showing regional ice conditions, with graphs of conditions at single location for all 23 years. These can be obtained within seconds. Reviews digitised data now available from other sources, capabilities of programme and describes some actual applications.
